Hillsborough County categorizes JUNCTIONS into 2 distinct subtypes.
JUNCTION BOX: A vault where pipes connect to accommodate changes in pipe size or direction, or else to provide access to the stormwater system. They are not designed to allow the input of stormwater directly from the surface. The shape of the vault can be round or rectangular in nature. Whether or not the junction box has manhole access (this includes both the metal lids and when the entire top slab is removable).
OTHER CONNECTION POINT: Fittings, cleanouts, reducers, etc. There is no enclosed structure associated with it. To be used when you need to change direction or otherwise need to indicate a different main or underdrain due to attribute changes. Typically, this type of asset will be digitized off of plans or at least in reference to plans as it is often something that is not visible from the ground. For instance, clean-outs would only apply to Other Connection Points, and would mostly be used for clean-outs found in conjunction for underdrains. Clean-outs provide access points for maintenance.

",
