Description: This dataset was created to identify all water bodies in Hillsborough County, which is useful in generating maps. It contains hydrographic features only and do not represent islands or uplands. The last update to the hydro feature layer was performed by digitizing the water features from 0.5 foot resolution digital aerial photograph taken in December, 2010 through March, 2011. The scale at which polygons were digitized varied as staff zoomed in and out while heads-up digitizing within the ArcMap. The water features included in this dataset include bays, fish farms, inlets, lakes, ponds and rivers. Water features have been captured according to aerial coverage; areas not flown by Hillsborough County are depicted using best available data. Tampa Bay and North Tampa Bay are depicted up to the legal boundary of the County.Because the sources of the hydrography data span many years and originate from several sources, the data may reflect areas of transition from one source to another. As a result, the water features as represented in the hydrography data may not always match what you see on a particular USGS quad.Re-delineation and edits occur as needed.
