Description: Throughout Hillsborough County, there are many areas prone to flooding. Many of these areas operate at or near their maximum capacity, yet they lie within the path of future development. To overcome any adverse impacts that may result from future development within these areas, the County has classified certain receiving systems as either peak sensitive or volume sensitive areas. A detailed analysis utilizing the latest approved County Watershed Management Master Plan (WMMP) models was conducted to determine the peak and volume sensitive basins. The complete methodology report can be found on the HC Watershed Model Data SharePoint site. The project to update the peak and volume sensitive basins was completed in November of 2022, and the revised basin designations have been used for permitting purposes since July 1st, 2023.
